Campus Support

Wesleyan Writing Center

We are lucky at Wesleyan to have many people and departments on campus ready to help you design your First-Year Seminars. Perusing this database is a start, but we also have some ideas on the Shapiro Center for Writing’s Faculty resource page. Reading resources can be inspiring, but sometimes you need to share your materials and talk through ideas with someone. Do not hesitate to reach out to the following faculty in the Shapiro Center for Writing:

  • Dr. Lauren Silber, Assistant Director of Academic Writing, Associate Professor of the Practice in Academic Writing
  • Dr. Beth Hepford, Associate Professor of the Practice in TESOL, Education Studies, and English

Wesleyan Writing Workshop

The Writing Workshop is a peer-tutoring support service on campus that runs three programs for students. There is the the Writing Workshop which offers one-on-one 45-minute appointments with peer tutors. The Writing Mentor Program which offers .25 credit and semester long weekly support with a peer tutor. Finally, we offer a wide range of thesis support including our Thesis Mentor Program and Thesis write-ins and bootcamps.

To encourage students to make use of these resources, consider adding information to your syllabus or requesting a class visit from a Workshop tutor by emailing Lauren Silber at lsilber@wesleyan.edu
